– If you own a television, you have access to all the expert decorating
advice you could ever need. With the abundance of decorating and
lifestyle shows ranging from Design on a Dime to This Old House, you can
pick up tricks of the trade without ever leaving your living room.
These shows offer tips on everything from the hottest colors of the
season to how to make a small room look larger or how to deal with
trouble spots in a room. Depending on how adventurous you are, you can
even find instructions on how to reupholster your furniture.
“The most encouraging things about these home shows is that they
emphasize how a little change can make a big difference in a room,” says
Todd Imholte, president of Murals Your Way. “One new piece of furniture
or a few fabulous accessories can make a huge impact.”
Imholte’s Minnesota-based company manufacturers wall murals that have
been used in a number of lifestyle shows recently. “Our murals have
shown up on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, Extreme Home Makeover and
Trading Spaces,” he says. “One reason the murals are so popular is that
they can create a focal point in a room, and provide the starting point
for a theme as well.”
He cites as an example the “Manhattan Lights” mural used on a Queer Eye
episode. “This is one of our most popular murals,” notes Imholte. “It
features a beautiful nighttime skyline view of Manhattan that includes
the twin towers of the World Trade Center.” Thom Filicia, Queer Eye’s
decorating diva, used this mural in a project for two New York City
firefighters who shared an apartment. “Both of them were involved in
9/11, so it was a very meaningful addition to their décor,” says Imholte.
The company’s “Night, Times Square, NY” mural was featured in an episode
of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. “They were looking for
something sophisticated and edgy to use in a very contemporary room,”
says Imholte. “This mural filled the bill.”
Murals are also being used in upscale hotels and restaurants. “We
provided a mural that sets the tone for the Woody Harrelson room at the
Hotel Triton in San Francisco,” says Imholte. “It’s a nature scene that
really brings the outdoors in and provides a serene and relaxing
ambiance.”
Murals Your Way makes it easy for consumers to add this same type of
drama to their own homes. “If you can visualize it, we can customize it
for you,” says Imholte. “You can use a personal photograph, a favorite
piece of artwork, or an illustration.” Or, if you’re looking for
inspiration, you can browse the company’s Gallery Collection, a library
of over 1,000 licensed images from world-renowned artists and
photographers, available in custom sizes.
All murals are printed on high-quality wallpaper stock and are ready for
installation. Murals Your Way uses inks that are fade resistant to five
years outdoors and 20 years indoors. “We’ve been doing this for over 35
years,” says Imholte. “So customers can be confident that we’ll get it
right, guaranteed.”
Ordering is easy. Simply choose an image from the company’s Web site or
